Spring is on its way and it is the time most known for reorganizing your house and getting rid of broken, old and unwanted belongings.

While there are many books and articles on the art of “decluttering” here are a few ideas WE thought might help you in your annual spring cleaning.

1)Start with the spaces in your home that are least utilized.

These are good places to start your spring cleaning as these are spaces that won’t bother anyone if you have to take a few days to sort your things. These areas also tend to be where most of our frequently used items and junk reside.

2) Just like on the show “Hoarders” create boxes or piles designated as – KEEP – DONATE – JUNK.

The trick to this is sticking with your decisions once you make them. Don’t go back through your junk and donate things and reclaim ownership. Rule of thumb here: NO TAKESIE BACKSIES!

3)IF you DON’T LOVE it – dump it.

Kind of like the guidelines in the book “He’s just not that into you” If you don’t give the item much attention, it is probably best to let it go.

4)Don’t forget the junk drawers!

Most people tend to stay away from clearing out these areas because they are often small and organizing things like junk drawers or closets are often VERY tedious. In my opinion, if there aren’t any pertinent items in the drawers – dump it all.

5) Once clear of your clutter take a look online for ideas on how to best organize the space in question.

Pinterest is a good place to start. It is easy to use, inspires tons of ideas through photos and their corresponding website links. Other websites that are helpful in respect to organizing are Unclutterer, JD Organizer, Org Junkie, Organizing your way, Productivity Café.

6) Decluttering apps!

Another great way to help you manage your clean up. Who Knew? A few we found are the Sortly App, Offer up, and Handy.

8) Take photos of the things you love but know you can’t keep.

A GENIUS IDEA that we happened to come across. Often there are many things you love but know you can’t keep. Solution?  Take photos of these items, print the photos out, frame them and create a memory wall in your home. This way you get to keep the memory and emotion behind these items forever!

7) Mobile Storage units and garbage bins.

If you are doing a MAJOR clean out considering ordering mobile storage units to move things into you want to keep but need out of the way. Check out our website at Adams Mobox for how mobile storage works and relative costs. Also, if you are dealing with an excess amount of junk and garbage look into ordering an oversized garbage bin that can be hauled away so you don’t have to make continuous trips to the dump.
